CAATail Antennas are handcrafted (USA), flexible antennas that are worn on the user's plate carrier or ruck. The antenna was designed and field tested around VHF/UHF squad internal communications.
The v2 model offers increased UHF performance and a triple abraded PET sleeve for extra cable protection.
When configuring the antenna, route the cable either over your shoulder or along your cummerbund and make a "U" shape on the back of your plate carrier. Ensure that the antenna is placed over your hydration source.
Unlike other wearable antenna options, "The RTO" has a multi-layered protective shell comprised of adhesive, metal locking ring, glue lined heat-shrink, bend boot and a final layer of heat-shrink for bump protection.
When comparing "The RTO" to "The Squad Leader", the skeletonized style QD locking feature on "The RTO" is not as robust to heavy impacts. "The Squad Leader" is permanently tipped with a screw on TNC connecter, making it more robust but lacking in modularity with other radios besides the PRC-152 , MBITR (PRC-148) and PRC117G.
VHF/UHF 30-512MHz (Not recommended for use in the 200MHz to 350MHz frequency range)
Max Watts: 10w
Total length: 51"
Plan on only using the antenna in a 90° configuration? Check out the "Dedicated 90° BNC-M Antenna" option for superior durability over the 90° Adapter.
Selecting the right angle adapter option for 'The RTO" will also include the standard straight BNC to TNC adapter!
"The RTO" is equipped with a BNC connecter; here are some compatibility examples:
- Just BNC, no adapter: PRC-117F, ASIP
- Included TNC adapter: PRC-152, MBITR (PRC-148) and PRC-117G
- SMA female adapter (not included): PRC-153 and many other Motorola, Baofeng and Yaesu radios (see Baofeng adapter product page for complete list of compatible radios.)
*Radios or tactical gear used to display the antenna are NOT included with the purchase of an antenna package*
